Kite surfing: Golf Course Car park, Ynyslas Wind Direction: S Wind Stength: 12-14 knots Surf / Sea State: 3 foot surf Air Temperature: 9ºC Sea Temperature: 9ºC Weather: Drizzle Max Speed: Distance Covered:
A perfect session nicely powered up in steady winds and some nice waves.
The new depower system I had set up on my bar worked a treat. Being able to
reach the bar meant that I could rely on the harness more and therefore
relax my arms so I could stay on the water longer.
Neil was out with 10m Wipika when I got there, and Colin was setting up is
20m Storm. Craig was also there with a smaller Storm. We all had a good
session and were joined later by someone with a Guerilla and Mike (The
Flying Scotsman). We all stopped for coffee in Col's van after a couple of
hours on the water, and as the wind had picked up a little everyone else
changed down to smaller kites. I just depowered mine a little and went back
out for another hour or so.
The swell was building all the time and allowed for some nice jumps off it
on the way out, some really good carving turns onto the face of the waves
out the back and some good little wave rides too. Although, with the wind
dead cross-shore it was difficult not to outrun the waves at times. The
waves also led to some spectacular crashes now and then too!!
Had the sun been shining and the temperatures warm enough to wear a shortie
it would have been a perfect session.
